Lara Rooney, who began her career in her hometown of Tulsa and found her way to Chicago after living and skiing in Jackson Hole, WY. for several years ,was named Director of Group Sales in January 2008. When she came to Chicago she was began at The Westin Chicago River North and joined the complex sales team for Sheraton Chicago and The Westin Chicago River North.

 

In Spring 2006, Lara joined The Westin Michigan Avenue Team and became an immediate leader on the team. With two dogs (Boomer and Bubba ), Lara and her husband Ron, cheer for the Oklahoma Sooners as well as Da Bears in football season. Having run a half marathon in 2007, Lara finds a sense of renewal in working out.

 

Overseeing a team of 10 sales people and assistants, plus handling the citywide market for the hotel, Lara brings a sense of graciousness to her work and in her interactions with the team, acting as a steady presence in the most trying times. The renovation of all the guestrooms in the hotel is complete and includes a complete soft goods renovation as well as the addition of a 4 pipe HVAC system to ensure our guests have the greatest flexibility in controlling the temperature to their desired setting. The rooms turned out beautifully and provide a perfect retreat from the rigors of the road.
